A Guide to Match PlayIn this section are some suggested resources you can access to further explain the Match Play format, the key rules, differences between formats, and how to score in a Match Play competition.
How to apply 'Daily Handicap' for Match PlayExample:
Player 1 has a Daily Handicap (15), Player 2 has a Daily Handicap (10) The difference between the two handicaps is 5, so Player 2 would need to give Player 1 an extra shot on 5 holes. 15 hcp - 10 hcp = 5 holes Therefore, using the Match Play Index, Player 2 would give up one (1) shot on holes 8, 12, 4, 16 & 10.
Match Play Championship RulesMatches will be played as knockout Singles Matchplay with a player's handicap to be calculated on their current 'Daily Handicap'.
In the event of a halved match in any round, the last stipulated round is deemed to extend to as many holes as are required for a match to be won. No handicap applies on the extended holes and will be based on the lowest actual stroke shots on the hole. Players are required to commit to playing all rounds to avoid forfeited matches. Please note, players competing in this competition cannot play in the competition of that day, as the Rules of Golf do not allow combining the two forms of golf (see Rule 33-1). |
