Golf Australia Connect

Introducing Golf Australia Connect

Golf Australia is undertaking a major digital transformation that includes the transition away from the 25-year-old GOLF Link platform to Golf Australia CONNECT.

The new Golf Australia CONNECT platform will provide enhanced technology services to more than 1,900 golf clubs and venues, and Australia’s 450,000-plus golf club members. Amongst other functions, the platform will incorporate handicapping, club services, affiliation fee management and collection, a
booking system and a new Golf Australia app.
As with any major technology transition, there will be some key initial steps for users - principally our clubs and golf club members - to help facilitate the change to the new system. Golf Australia’s aim is to ensure these transitional steps are simple and kept to a minimum. At the same time, we will ensure
resources are available to assist golf clubs and golfers if or when required.

This Information Guide for Golfers is one step in the transition process. As we move closer to the introduction of Golf Australia CONNECT, instruction and relevant guidance will be provided to golfers to ensure their transition is as smooth as possible. This is an important project for golf around Australia, and we are excited about the benefits that will eventually flow to our clubs, facilities, golfers and golf fans.

QUICK GUIDE TO GOLF AUSTRALIA CONNECT

WHY THE CHANGE?

  • The existing GOLF Link platform is 25 years old and has limited functionality for today’s golfing needs.
  • The way golfers and golf clubs interacted with technology 25 years ago is vastly different to today.
  • More people than ever are playing golf in Australia and we need to better meet their different needs.
  • A need for a platform with enhanced data security which aligns with current policy and modern practice.
  • It provides a modern platform that enables future enhancements to the software solutions offered to clubs, facilities and golfers in the years to come.

WHAT'S CHANGING?

  • Transitioning Australia’s handicapping platform from GOLF Link to Golf Australia CONNECT.
  • If a golf club and its members currently use the GOLF Link Tier 1 platform, it will have a new and enhanced software interface for membership, handicap and competition management, including complimentary access to digital app scoring and timesheet functions.
  • GOLF.com.au and the new Golf Australia Official App will be fully renovated and will provide many more features for golfers.

WHAT'S NOT CHANGING?

  • If a club and its members currently use the services of a GA-Licensed Software Provider (e,g, MiClub, SimpleGolf, Golf Magic, GolfBox, Golf Genius), then it and its golfers will continue to use that software for day-to-day operations.
  • Golf Australia will continue to work with GA-Licensed Software Providers (LSPs) to ensure expectations of clubs and golfers are met by the centralised handicapping solution in Australia.
  • Data (including email addresses) provided by a club on behalf of the golfer for the purposes of Golf Australia CONNECT will continue to only be used for handicapping and verification.
  • Marketing consent arrangements (as provided through the golf.org.au website) will remain the same for golfers unless they choose to alter this consent.
