Congratulations to Sam Sahin who posted a sublime 41 points to capture the 2016 Captain's Trophy on Australia Day. After scoring 20 on the front nine, he went one better with 21 on the back, including a birdie on the 12th and five straight pars to finish.
Darren Cunningham was a strong 2nd, with 40 points, also scoring 21 on the back with a birdie on the 14th the highlight.
Vince Scali (38), Aaron Delia (37) and Tim Lewin (37) also beat their handicaps in relatively benign conditions, although dewy greens made putting tricky early in the day.
Sam is the first name on the Honours Board for 2016, and adds to his previous victories including: A Grade Champion 2012; B Grade (Gross) Champion 2007; Par Champion 2013; and 4BBB Champion 2014 & 2015 with John Bozinovski.
