In Memory of Jason Laurie

1/2/2021

It is with great sadness and shock that the GFGC committee has to inform its members of the sudden passing of our club captain Jason Laurie.  Along with being a great club person Jason was always a pleasure to be around, share a laugh with or join for a round of golf. He loved the game of golf and he loved GFGC. During this difficult time our hearts and thoughts are with Jason’s parents, sister and brother-in-law, member Michael Aldrich. GFGC will miss you Jason. Rest in Peace

With a heavy heart I just want to say Jason you will be dearly missed by myself and everyone form the club. Each time I saw you at the golf club you always were in a good and happy mood because you were either going to play a game of golf or you just finished a game of golf and ready for a nice cold beer or two of Corona. Rest in Peace El Capitano.

Our hearts are broken. You will be so sadly missed Jason. A great friend, mentor, snow boarder, gardener, cook, drinker & golfer. Happy times witnessing your recent 48 points. XX

To my brother-in-law, best mate and golf partner - hit em well in the great golf course in the sky mate. To all at the GFGC, thanks for your thoughts and personal messages. I've passed each one on to the family, which is providing much needed comfort. See you all soon.

Jason you will be fondly remembered for so many reasons. You lived life to the fullest, showing passion and taking pride in whatever it was you chose to do. Professionally you were a perfectionist expecting the best of yourself for your customers. The results of your work speak for themselves.
Your love of sport had no boundaries. You were a golf tragic always striving to improve and find that perfect round. Recently you found it. I still remember what you said the next time I saw you after your 48 point round. "All I did was hit fairways and greens". It was like it finally all came together for you. What I admired the most though was the reason you loved golf. It's purity and the etiquette that came with it. It was a pleasure to play in your group and share 4 1/2 hours walking around GF with you.
I will miss talking to you about our Navy Blues and Formula 1.

Graeme, Carol, Simone and Michael, nothing makes what you are currently experiencing any easier. Just know that the fantastic memories Jason gave so many including myself will be in our minds and in our hearts forever. You have every right to feel proud of your son, brother and best mate.

Jason I will forever miss your morning greeting as we signed in at the proshop. While many of us rushed to hit balls or have a putt, your priority was connecting with other members and staff while enjoying your morning coffee. It was only Wednesday when we last spoke about the upcoming pennant season. I can’t believe it. Your contribution to the GFGC was enormous both on and off the course. Condolences to your family at this very difficult time. You will always be remembered. Rest In Peace.

I can't believe that Tuesday afternoon was the last time we sat and had a laugh and talked crap. You were a true gentleman on and off the golf course.
Heartfelt condolences to your family.
Rest in peace

Hey guys,
It's such a sad loss but thankfully Jason left us much - he had an opinion on everything - wasn't afraid to let you know either! His priority was golf but he gave us lots, socially - thanks for the many shared beers mate; he played like he meant it and got agro like he meant it....but all the while in pretty blue shorts! (not my style but thanks J :)); He had a second to none attitude to his carpentry and wouldn't settle for 'almost right' - Liked beer and food so much he brew and grew much of it himself - food from the ground up not the shelf down type of guy!; his best golf was awesome (48) and his worse golf...well, we're still looking for it!! - he really was a golf tragic. Thanks for living life with the big driver Jay- you certainly didn't leave a lot in the golf bag! We'll miss ya!
Condolences to mike an the family....take care!

So sorry to hear of the passing of Jason, I played many a round with Jason and his brother in law Mike Aldrich at Yarrambat Golf Club.
I truly respected Jason as a good golfing buddy and I know that the golfing god will accept Jason with open arms. RIP Jason

It is such a shock to hear of your passing Jason. As the bloke I played golf with for nearly 6 and a half years week in and out. You loved the game and life i can't believe you're gone. You were a top bloke and a good person to be around. You loved the frog and only ever wanted to see it grow. The club and golf were your passion it will be missed very much at the growling frog, you leave a hole that will take a long time to fill. I hope your playing on the best courses up there. R.I.P Jason

Condolences to Jason's family and deeply saddened for their loss.

Absolute shock and numb since the tragic news.

Will always remember Jason for the fond memories, the good times and our unique inside jokes we had virtually every Sunday at GF for nearly 3 years that I won't have with anyone else.

Playing at GF next time will not be the same knowing he's gone as every hole will remind me of fond moments and memories with him.

Tragic loss, R.I.P.

Jase like many, Alma & I are still trying to come to terms with your very sudden demise, we are ALL in shock. It is with sadness that I realize that we will never see or hear your cheerful "g'day" around the course again. Life has it's strange turns of events & this is indeed one of them. Condolences to your family & other loved ones.
Mark & Alma.

Jason was always ready to talk to older blokes like Song and myself. A top bloke! I regret not having an opportunity to play a round with him, but I'll always remember him practising his bunker play the day before he left us. Today I turned to him and he gave me a par on the 10th. Will miss you Jase. A true gentleman.
